In this course, candidates will develop knowledge and practical skills in relation to property management, understand landlord and tenant relationships and be able to evaluate alternative professional strategies in a range of property and asset management scenarios. Emphasis will be placed on strategic asset management and operational property management situations where candidates will be expected to assess a range of letting situations and provide the best professional advice.
This course will provide candidates with a detailed understanding of the principles, theories, techniques and procedures associated with the valuation of real estate and liabilities for a variety of purposes. It will seek to explore more applied valuation situations such as the implementation of valuation in relation to legal requirements, investment management and portfolio analysis. Candidates will apply a more critical understanding and develop the skills necessary to produce investment and market valuations, including performing complex valuations, evaluating and interpreting the performance of real estate investments at the individual asset and portfolio level. Valuations for alternative markets will also be explored.
You will focus on how to effectively manage commercial development projects to maximize their value. You will use case studies to determine project feasibility, develop project management skills and systematically compare competing commercial development sites to ensure your selection is in line with project objectives. You will then create, cultivate and communicate the project vision, scope and feasibility in a development package to share with key stakeholders to gain buy-in for your project.
This course provides candidates with a thorough grounding in both the fundamentals of organisational management and the legal context in which real estate operates. It introduces candidates to the principles of the legal system, land, tort and contract law and the fundamentals of landlord and tenant law. The course also explores the nature of commercial and other organisational structures, such as charities and professional organisations, and introduces candidates to the basic principles of accounting.
